Aeldari faction overview

The Aeldari (Craftworld Eldar) are 40K's ancient, dying elder race — psychic, fragile, and lethally fast. Aspect Warriors (Dire Avengers, Howling Banshees, Fire Dragons, Striking Scorpions), Guardians, Wraith constructs and grav-skimmer tanks define a finesse army that rewards careful target priority.

Buying advice for second-hand collectors

Many Aeldari kits are 20+ years old metals that still see tabletop use. Watch for OOP Aspect Warrior squads (Swooping Hawks, Warp Spiders, Shining Spears) where metal supply is thin. The Aeldari half of Eldritch Omens and the Combat Patrol are the cheapest plastic entries.

Collecting & army-building advice

Craftworld identity drives the colour scheme — Ulthwé black/bone, Biel-tan green/white, Saim-Hann red, Iyanden yellow. Most competitive Aeldari lists run multiple Aspect Warrior units, a Wraithknight or Wraithlord centrepiece, and Farseer/Autarch HQs.

Popular units & kits

  • Combat Patrol: Aeldari
  • Dire Avengers, Howling Banshees, Fire Dragons
  • Guardian Defenders
  • Wraithguard / Wraithblades
  • Wraithknight
  • Farseer (foot and on jetbike)

Frequently asked questions

Are old metal Aspect Warriors still legal?
Yes — every Aspect Warrior unit has a current warscroll and the older metals remain playable. Many Aspect kits have been remade in plastic; both versions are legal.
Which Aeldari faction should I start with?
Craftworld Aeldari is the deepest range. Drukhari and Harlequins use the same Aeldari keyword and can ally as allies for thematic forces.
Are Wraithknights still strong?
Yes — under the current codex they remain a top centrepiece. Second-hand Wraithknights regularly appear at 25–40% off RRP.
