Grey Knights faction overview

The Grey Knights are the Emperor's Daemonhunters — a secret Chapter of Space Marine psykers, every member a Librarian. Their range is small but elite: Strike Squads, Paladins, Terminators, Dreadknights and named Grand Masters and Inquisitors.

Buying advice for second-hand collectors

Grey Knight kits are stable — the Terminator and Strike Squad plastics from the 2011 refresh remain current. Dreadknights are the flagship kit. Watch for missing nemesis force halberd/sword option sprues in loose lots.

Collecting & army-building advice

Silver armour is the scheme — Leadbelcher base, Nuln Oil wash, Stormhost Silver edge highlight, with Retributor Gold trim. Low model count (often 25–35 models in a 2,000-point list) makes Grey Knights one of the fastest armies to paint to a high standard.

Frequently asked questions

How many models do I need for a Grey Knights army?
Most 2,000-point lists run 25–35 models — among the lowest model counts in 40K, making them ideal for collectors who hate painting hordes.
Can I ally Inquisition with Grey Knights?
Yes — Imperial Agents (Inquisitors, Acolytes) ally cleanly into Grey Knights and remain a thematic mainstay.
Is the Dreadknight worth buying?
Yes — it's the iconic Grey Knights centrepiece and remains competitively viable in the current codex.
