Orks faction overview

Orks are 40K's anarchic, ramshackle warriors — green-skinned brawlers whose belief literally bends reality, making their guns fire and their kustom vehicles run. The range spans hordes of Boyz, kustom Mek vehicles, Stompas, Squighogs and the colossal Gargantuan Squiggoth, with constant rules support for narrative kitbash armies.

Buying advice for second-hand collectors

Orks are the second-hand kitbasher's dream — old Boyz sprues, classic metal Nobz and OOP Stompas all remain legal and abundant. Watch for incomplete kits; Trukks and Battlewagons routinely lose small upgrade sprues. The Beast Snagga half of the Beast Snagga starter box is excellent value.

Collecting & army-building advice

Lean into the kitbash ethos — Ork players are encouraged to convert. Bitz lots are core to the hobby. Clan colour identity (Goff black, Bad Moon yellow, Evil Sunz red, Snakebite earth-tones) drives both the paint scheme and the army composition (Speed Freeks vs Foot Boyz vs Beast Snaggas).

Frequently asked questions

Are old plastic Ork Boyz still legal?
Yes. The classic AoBR Boyz sculpts and original plastic Nobz remain fully usable in the current Ork codex.
What's the cheapest Ork army second-hand?
Bulk Boyz lots from collection clear-outs are the cheapest route to a 100-model Green Tide army for under £100 second-hand.
Is kitbashing required for Orks?
Not required, but expected. Most veteran Ork armies feature converted Warbosses, kustom Trukks, and Mek-built war machines that aren't directly available as boxed kits.
